The Colleen has
a waterline length of 17 ft, and a beam of 6 ft 6 ins. The overall
length was intended to be 20 ft but was changed to 22 ft to give
a raking transom. A keel/centreboard, clinker-built boat she had
5 cwt in her keel, and a mainsail of 200 sq ft and jib of 50 sq
ft.
The centreplate is similar to that of James Doyle's Water Wag
design of 1899.
The original design had a pivoting rudder, but other options
were later sanctioned by the DBSC committee.

The Builders of the revival prototype COLLEEN BAWN
Classic Sailboats is a North Wales based company specialising in building popular classes of traditional wooden sailing boats, such as the Dublin Bay Water Wag and the Seabird Half-Rater.

John has been building fine quality boats for many years and was responsible for building the Colleen mould and the prototype boat, COLLEEN BAWN.
